Thwarted!

Journal Entry: Thu Sep 3, 2009, 7:07 PM

Things go less well for the moment...

Well in the process of upgrading my computer I technically lost my desktop for awhile.

In short - during a RAM upgrade one slot on my motherboard decided to short out... All the memory is in working condition (all nicely tested), so i made due with a reduction in memory to 2GB and ordered a new board. That board got here, and was dead on arrival... I had however fully disassembled the previous machine, and putting it back together for the time it will take my RMA to complete was not worth the hassle. So, for the moment I have a laptop but will not be particularly active until the desktop is back in running order

Hopefully sometime next week things will be back in order.

Until then...

The Trend Continues

Well, apparently when I came back this time I actually meant it! You can tell because I'm still here.

Right now I've been having a good bit of fun stalking the newest deviation pages and refreshing frequently to catch what comes by and get a first shot. I've also been using the random deviation button, it feels good to find quality art from years back and be able to be the first view or comment in quite some time. After all, who doesn't like to see that their old art is still appreciated?

I'm also hoping that such activity will encourage random comments on my own work. Joining =Space-Club should also help.

On the space art front... I'm mostly just having some fun getting back into practice for the moment. I'm spending an average of an hour a piece with an image size of 1000px square. After such a long break though, most of my regular commenters have faded away - a bit expected though.

Welcome Back

Back and In Action

Well, I had one journal which basically said I was "back" and "alive" but now it may actually be true... I have submitted a few photos and have put up my first piece of space art in several years.

The new space piece is... well... sub par, but after a break of about 4 years, I'd say it's a good start. I need a lot of work to freshen up any skills I may have had back in the day, but my wacom tablet is still in perfect working order, I have rediscovered most of the brush sets I used to use (though a few are still awol) and I am rebuilding a base of textures. Although on the texture front I am relearning all the problems with texture symmetry and size.

I've also been enjoying the random deviation button and getting back into the pace of commenting.

So, here's to being back! I look forward to reengaging with the community more over that coming days and weeks.

Not dead... and submissions

Wed Jun 17, 2009, 12:02 PM
Yeah, I keep posting journals that announce that I am, in fact, not dead.

But this time I even have three new submissions to add! So not dead, and taking photos.

A lot has gone on in life since I last posted a journal. I lived in Japan for 6 months (some photos from that have already been submitted). I lived in Boston for a year. And now I'm back in Grand Junction, CO.

At some point I may even take up space art again, though time will tell. For the moment I am trying to do some photography and looking at buying a Lumix DMC-G1.

Not dead?

Mon Sep 15, 2008, 4:38 PM
I am indeed alive, although I have been gone for quite some time.

I moved to Japan, did the teach English thing for awhile, moved back to the states, moved to Boston, and now I will be moving back to Colorado (the place I call home) in November to go back to school.

I hope to get back to some kind of activity here. Not sure what that will mean, but it will surely be something better than over a year of silence.
